Understanding Mozart: the man and his work.
Reading Mozart’s text: dynamics, articulation, fingering, pedaling, tempo, rhythm, ornaments and other aspects of classical performance practice.
Sonatas 1: Sonata form - a musical essay with its rules and marvelous deceptions.
Sonatas 2: Mozart’s piano sonatas.
Variation forms, rondos, fantasias and other solo works of Mozart.
Mozart and the Enlightenment: guest lecture by Douglas Yoder on philosophy, aesthetics and music in relation to Mozart and his operas.
Concertos 1: the dramatic language of Mozart concertos.
Concertos 2: Mozart’s piano concertos.
Rococo, neoclassicism, and Mozart. Relations between music and the visual arts.
